In a stunning victory last Saturday, the UMD Terrapins defeated their rivals at Penn State by an astounding 44-7. In a year where the Terps had gone 4-7, almost everyone had given up hope of a strong performance, but the Terps went above and beyond all expectations.

Following the outstanding victory, students rushed the field as confetti rained down on the stadium and celebrations took place in every Terp household.“I’m honestly shocked,” said Jackson Kleiner, a junior geology major. “I had pretty much given up hope after that Northwestern game, but my god, for the first time in a while I’m really proud of my school. When they pulled that insane 57-yard field goal, I stood up and audibly cheered.”

“They had us in the first half, not gonna lie,” said QB Billy Edwards Jr. “That first touchdown they got was sure as hell scary, but after we pulled that 99-yard TD, I had a feeling we could do this.” Edwards was praised for his stunning performance, which included dodging a whopping eight sacks and delivering two touchdowns all by himself. Numerous sports betters felt the opposite after gambling away thousands on a Maryland loss.

Penn State was left humiliated after the game, with many longtime PSU fans even praising Maryland’s performance. Even Governor Wes Moore chimed in, claiming it was “…one of the main reasons I’m proud to be from this great state. After we finished with that 75-yard pass TD with a two-point conversion, I knew we ended this tough year with one hell of a bang.” Needless to say, Terp spirits are higher than ever, and the future of the Terrapins is looking bright after a difficult year. And UMD is sure thankful– after all, imagine the humiliation if it was the Terps that lost 7-44!
