On a visit to College Park, in advance of headlining the SEE Homecoming Comedy Show, Georgetown alumnus John Mulaney was eagerly and gently offered a spot in an upcoming production of Maryland Night Live.
“We seized him,” said real-life ‘MNL’ co-director Kaelyn Roney. “Using force, and our hands.”
Saturday Night Live creator and producer Lorne Michaels couldn’t refrain from commenting on such an occasion. “I think this could be the best Maryland Night Live since Amelia Nur did standup in the Spring 2024 show, which you can watch here.”
“I’m so excited for this—I just wish it had been the same season I did the show,” said disgraced-MNL-cast-member-turned-Hare-writer Andrew Simone.
Mulaney’s reaction was surprising. “I just don’t know how I’m gonna fit this in my schedule, especially because I’m taking Calc 3 this semester,” said 42-year-old college graduate John Mulaney. “But I really loved doing Saturday Night Live, and sometimes just found myself wishing that it was on a Thursday night, so I think this’ll be worth it.”
Mulaney will be staying in the Hotel at the University of Maryland to accommodate ‘MNL’ rehearsals and to get the full college student experience of living there after your apartment has both a major sewage leak and an infestation of cockroaches of an unknown species.
“I already have it on my calendar to go to Looney’s on Tuesday, just like ‘Suite Life’ child-actor-turned-adult-hunk Dylan Sprouse did when he was here,” added Mulaney. “He and I have a lot in common because our wives are both incredibly gorgeous, as are we, equally.”
