COLLEGE PARK, MD – Documents found on the side of Baltimore Avenue reveal that before harsh budget cuts, the Taco Bell location on Route 1 was to be converted into a Taco Bell Hotel.

Taco Bell previously held a limited-time collaboration with a hotel in Palm Springs, California. Following its success, the Taco Bell board of directors decided to try opening their own hotel in College Park, which has a similar rate of tourism.

“How hard could it be?” joked Taco Bell executive Daya Rhea. “Everyone loves Taco Bell. Besides, there are tons of hotels in College Park. Building another one is a great business decision!” When asked where he received his business degree, Rhea declined to comment.

According to the documents, the hotel would have featured a Diablo Sauce fountain, soft and hard taco pillows, a full floor of restrooms, 24/7 room service, and free Wi-Fi. “It really would have been an impressive feat of engineering,” lamented architect Falin G. Watter, who was familiar with the project. “There were plans for an artificial waterfall made entirely of Baja Blast.”

Unfortunately, funding for the project was stopped by the State Group of Architects (SGA). The SGA cited budget cuts as the primary reason for the decision. As a result, all of the upper floors were scrapped, and the ground floor was renovated last minute into a regular Taco Bell restaurant. In a press conference following the re-opening, Rhea stated, “Our construction crew had to work throughout the night and make as much noise as possible, but ultimately, we are proud of the finished product.”
